Helmed by three highly trained medical oncologists who are continually involved in new cancer research, OncoCare Cancer Centre was established in 2007 to offer the most effective approaches for detection, diagnosis and treatment of cancer, one of the top ten killers in Singapore and the world.

What makes Oncocare different?

Oncocare is one of the only two private multi-disciplinary specialist oncology team in Singapore. On a regular basis, the team interacts with surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists to discuss patient cases for treatment planning in Tumor Board Forums. Additionally, not only is a patient taken care by his direct doctor, but can count on a whole team of oncologist to support him.

The Oncocare team is a young and progressive, flexible enough to learn newer technologies and yet committed to only tried, tested and medically sound technologies. Healthcare financing information for cancer treatment

Many patients and their families are anxious when it comes to cancer treatment costs. The general perception is that it is a long drawn out treatment and is expensive. In addition, there is uncertainty over what is covered by medisave and other national medical plans as well as what insurance they have.

The purpose of this article is to assist families with some information on medical financials for cancer treatment, particularly in relation to chemotherapy, hormonal therapy and the newly included class of drugs called targeted therapy. "Rare" cancers experts

Is it an oxymoron to have an expert in rare cancers? In oncology, cancers that arise in unusual sites or of unusual origins do occur. Sometimes, they have been described as “rare as hen’s teeth”. If these cancers occur infrequently, then it would be very hard for a person to have seen enough to be an expert in such a cancer.

There are 2 situations where the cancer might be rare. The first is where the cell of origin of the cancer is rare. An example that comes to mind would be the different types of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) described in the World Health Organization (refer to table) classification. Read More »
